AI for SME manufacturers: start in the office, not on the shop floor

When people imagine AI in a factory, they picture robots and camera-based inspection. For most Indian SME manufacturers the quicker returns are in the office: turning RFQs into quotes, typing purchase orders and challans into Tally, writing to export buyers and chasing payments. What to try first, cheapest first

  1. Use the AI already in your accounting software. If you are on TallyPrime or BUSY, test Docs by Ira or AI Voucher Scan on a month of purchase bills before buying anything else.
  2. Give your sales engineer a business AI assistant. Use it for quotation cover emails, follow-ups and export correspondence. Keep customer drawings out of free tools.
